Healthcare - A Right or A Good

The current sentiment in Washington seems to be that Health Care is a right. This is false. Health Care is a good. A right is a gift from God, we have the rights enumerated in the Constitution, the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A good is something we need or want. Food, clothing, shelter, cars, TVs, etc are goods. Health Care is a good. Its a service provided by health care professionals to people who want it or need it based on receiving payment in return. When the government asserts that health care is a right their true objective is to take from one person by force, the money needed to pay for health care services for another. This is nothing more than welfare for the recipient and theft for the person from whom the money is taken.

Most of us earn money by selling our time to our employer. So, we trade our life for money, but the money is ours just as our life is ours. THIS IS A RIGHT. When the government then takes our money against our will they have taken our life in violation of the belief expressed by the founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence that we have a right to our life.

In a free society, the rights of the individual MUST remain paramount. Once the individual's rights become subject to the will of the majority we will no longer remain free!

Just Getting Started

This is my first time writing on a "blog". It is my intent for this blog to be a place where ideas about politics, philosophy and religion can be shared and considered. As might be suspected, my motivation for creating this blog is to get other people to read and consider and ultimately agree with my viewpoints on these topics. I believe honesty, not only with others but also with ourselves, is vital to our growth and happiness as an individual.

I am a Christian.

I am EXTREMELY conservative.

I do not believe that there is virtue in forced charity, i.e. state run welfare.

I believe in a very limited federal government. (Probably 1/10th the size of current gov't.)

I believe that capitalism is the reason we enjoy the unprecedented prosperity that this country has known for the last 100 years.

I believe and do a lot of other things that i am sure will be covered on this blog in good time. I hope you find the post here to be intellectually stimulating and that you come back often.
